Frank Longo

Frank Vito Longo was born on May 21, 1923 in Wakefield, MA, where he lived his entire life in the home that he grew up in. He passed away peacefully on April 6th, surrounded by his loving family.

A graduate of Wakefield High School and Colby College, Mr. Longo was also an accomplished jazz musician who played the saxophone and clarinet in a number of popular local bands in the 1940's. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country as a commissioned officer in North Africa during World War II, acting as an interpreter for Italian prisoners of war during that campaign.

Frank was the owner and manager of the Meadow Glen Twin Drive-In Theater in Medford, MA from the mid-1950's until it's closing in the mid 1970's, then became a managing partner in the development of the Meadow Glen Mall that opened on that Medford property in 1979. In retirement, he enjoyed the time he spent at his oceanfront home in Magnolia, MA.

Mr. Longo is survived by his sister, Frances Murphy of Wakefield, who was married to the late John J. Murphy, Jr., and his nieces and nephews, Paul Murphy, Jay Murphy, Christopher Murphy, Shauna Murphy, all of Wakefield; Paul Longo of Gloucester and Judy Longo of Colorado; as well as grand-niece and nephew, Alexandra and Jack Murphy, of Stoneham, MA. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Joseph and Grace (Ripa) Longo , as well as his brother, Paul.

A private service will be held for family members.
