Fred Yasi , Jr ., age 91, of Peabody formerly of Wakefield, died Tuesday, January 30 at the Salem Hospital.
Born in Everett on October 25, 1926 he was the son of the late Fred and Mary (Moreschi) Yasi .
Mr. Yasi was raised in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1944. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He had worked for General Electric in Everett for more than 40 years, retiring in 1987. Mr. Yasi was part of the GE Bowling League and was also a longtime member of the Wakefield Knights of Columbus. He was a devout Catholic and a Dixieland Jazz enthusiast. Above all, he was a devoted grandfather to his two granddaughters.
He was the loving father of Alfred M. Yasi and his wife Denise of Wakefield and Donald J. Yasi of Jamaica Plain. He was the brother of Michael Yasi of Revere, Daniel Yasi of Everett and the late William, Edward, Robert, and Richard Yasi . He was the beloved grandfather of Jennifer Schonfeld and her husband Brian of Melrose and Kristin Yasi of Wakefield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11am. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 9am.
