Described as "Fun, engaging and full of life" (Susan Bumstead Chanley) Frederick (Fred) H. Aston, 88 of Wakefield, MA passed away on December 31, 2021.
Born in Boston, MA on July 29, 1933, to the late Frederick C. and Vivian (Fieldhouse) Aston.
Fred, or as some came to know him as Fearless Fred, was always active doing something. In High School, class of 1952, his joy was skiing. His true passion has always been baseball where he was the star pitcher for the HS team. Offered a position to play with the NY Dodgers was turned down to join the Army fighting in the Korean war. Fred could also be seen racing down 128 with his friends. Then he met the love of his life… Joan Aston. Devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Fred and Joan proudly raised 5 kids in the Wakefield area. As Fred grew older, he came to love the simple things in life like his morning coffees, golfing with friends, working in the yard, watching car shows and just working around the house. If you know Fred, you know he couldn't sit still for long!
Fred is survived by his wife Joan Aston and his five children: Fred Aston and his life partner Lyn Bernard of Wakefield, MA, Mark and his wife Paula Aston of Woburn, MA, Rick and his wife Lisa Aston of Sherborn, MA, Lynne and her husband Christian Geisthoff of Louisville, CO and Susan and her husband Edward Bradford of Melrose, MA. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren: Janine Delano, Jessica Aston, Jocelyn Aston, Danielle Aston, Jordan Aston, Steven Aston, Richie Bradford, Brittany Aston, Ryan Bradford, and Nalani Geisthoff, and his six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson Justin Aston.
Private service will be held on January 8, 2022.
