Frederick Devries

Frederick J. DeVries, 91, of Wakefield, died on Thursday, July 16 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

Born in Medford on May 4, 1918, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Lenslink) DeVries.

Mr. DeVries was a graduate of Medford High School. He served in the US Coast Guard and during World War II the Merchant Marines. He had worked as a Plumber.

Mr. DeVries was very active in the Wakefield Lodge of Elks #1276 and had served as a past Exalted Ruler and District Deputy.

Mr. DeVries was the husband of the late Agnes (Douchette) DeVries and Marilyn ( Benincasa ) DeVries. He was the father of Frederick J. DeVries, Jr. and his wife Betty of Billerica. Stepfather of Damien Autery of Reading, David Autery of Cape Cod, Dwayne Autery of CA and Darlene Autery of VT. Brother of Henry DeVries of WA, Richard DeVries of MA, Jennie Garland of MA, Marie Harris of CA and the late John, George and Katherine DeVries. He is also survived by his grandchildren Steven, Brian, Devin, Drake, Gabriel and Molly. He was the great grandfather of Paige and Samuel and Dear friend of the late Liz Preston.

A funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Tuesday at 11am. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, 2-4 and 6-8pm. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
