Frederick F. Marmo, 88, a Wakefield resident for 55 years, died on Thursday, June 30 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.
Born in Boston on October 25, 1920, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Jane (LaBella) Marmo.
Mr. Marmo was a graduate of East Boston High School, Boston University and Harvard University where he earned his PHD in chemistry. He was a retired chemical physicist for G.C.A. He had also done government work for NASA. Mr. Marmo was a member of St. Joseph parish in Wakefield. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II.
Mr. Marmo was the beloved husband of Maryann (LaRosa), loving father of Frederick J. Marmo Esq. of Brookline, Joanne Tyler and husband Clem of Lunenburg, Malia Scotch-Marmo and husband Stephen of New York City. He was the brother of Antionette Parmet of New York, Joseph Marmo of Idaho, Rose Tirrell of Nahant and the late Carolyn Matt, Ernestine Vecchio and Anthony Marmo. Mr. Marmo was the devoted grandfather of Vanessa, Michael, George, Frederick, Gina, Jackie and Gus. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9 am followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 am. Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4-8 pm. Entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
