Gary Long

Gary S . Long , age 62, of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 1, 2017. Gary was born in Brockton to Charles William Long and Betty (Broquist) Long on January 23, 1955. He grew up in Norwell with a love for family and friends. He met Janet Lunn in primary school and after dating on skates on the local ponds, they married and set out on an amazing 43 year adventure together. They moved to Waltham where he received his undergrad and graduate degrees from Bentley University. Gary loved deeply, which resulted in many long-term friendships. He loved to read, travel, play golf and competitive cribbage, bike, kayak, walk the dog and meticulously care for his yard. Boston sports teams kept his heart pumping. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Janet (Lunn) Long , devoted siblings; James E. Long and his wife Phyllis of Simsbury CT, Nina ( Long ) DiGiacomo and her partner, Joe Mayo of East Boston; beloved nieces and nephews; Charlene, Jaime, Katherine, Erik, Matthew, Courtney; GREAT nieces and nephews; Allison, William, Andrew, Ryan, Olivia, Fortunato, Tristano and Mason; and his gracious and loving aunts and uncles; and many friends who are dear to his heart. Gary is predeceased by his parents and brother, Charles W. Long Jr. The family sincerely thanks Gary's kind and skilled care team from MGH and Care Dimensions.
