George Laing

George M . Laing , 83, a resident of Lynnfield for 40 years, died on Wednesday, November 14 at his home.

Born in Boston on December 21, 1928, he was the son of the late George and Isabelle (Gerrie) Laing .

Mr. Laing was raised in Boston and was a graduate of W. Roxbury High School. He was also a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston and later from Northeastern University. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Laing was a retired Marine Steam Engineer from General Electric in Lynn.

He was an avid and passionate golfer and a longtime member of the Thompson Country Club of North Reading and the Countryside Country Club in Clearwater, FL. He was also a member of DeMolay and the Masons. He also enjoyed travel.

Mr. Laing was the beloved husband of Virginia E. (Wuntz) Laing and the late Shirley W. (Whiton) Laing . He was the loving father of David W. Laing and his wife Mary of Woburn, Roger G. Laing of Milford, NH and Bonnie J. Laing of Milford, MA. He was the grandfather of David W. Jr. and Bradford M . Laing and Jamie A. Ferguson. He was the great grandfather of Alison, Nathan & Connor.

His funeral service will be held in the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St., Lynnfield on Saturday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield.
