George H. Ward, 74, a Wakefield resident since 1972, died at his home on Wednesday, January 19.
Born in Swampscott on January 26, 1936 he was the son of the late Laurence and Lillian (Rice) Ward.
George was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1954. He joined the Air Force shortly after graduation during the Korean Conflict. George was the owner and operator of Wards Service Center for 27 years, serving Lynn, Swampscott, and Nahant. He later worked for Pudgys Towing and Auto Repair in Lynn.
He was the husband of Daphne (Digby) Ward with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. He was the father of Christopher D. Ward of Nahant, Deborah A. Ward and Tracey L. Ward both of Marlborough. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 sibling and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald, Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be private.
