Gerald Hurley

Gerald F . Hurley , 77, a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away unexpectedly at the Tufts-New England Medical Center on Friday, June 8, 2012.
Born and raised in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Jeremiah, and the late Anna (Deveau) Hurley . "Jerry" as he was known to family and friends, was a graduate of Bentley College. He was employed as an Auditor for the John Hancock Insurance Company, and later for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, retiring in 2000. Jerry was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and had worked part-time as a custodian at St. Patrick's Parish in Stoneham.
He is survived by his former wife, Beverly Hurley of Beverly. One son, David Hurley and his wife Amy of Waltham; one daughter, Marilyn Deschenes and her husband Greg of Beverly; and he was preceded in death by one son, the late Kevin Hurley . He was the grandfather of Leslie Hurley of New Paltz, NY, Christina Burridge and Erin Deschenes of Beverly, and the late Kali Hurley; and he was the brother of Dorothy Petersen of Randolph, and the late Ronald Hurley .
The Funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home 322 Main St., Stoneham on Tuesday, June 12 at 9:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St.Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10:00. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 pm. Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
