Geraldine B. "Gerry" Puopolo, 89, of Wakefield died on Saturday, March 20th at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
Gerry was born in Malden on March 23, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Henry and Theresa (Saccardo) Santoro.
Gerry was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1949. After high school she worked as an office assistant at an insurance company in downtown Boston. After marrying her high school sweetheart Anthony in 1955, she began to raise her family in Wakefield. After her children grew, she returned to work part time. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and was an avid tennis player and member at Bear Hill Country Club in Stoneham. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed many vacations with all of them.
Gerry was the beloved wife of 59 years to the late Anthony J. Puopolo, Jr. She was the loving mother of Lisa Brown and her husband Thomas of Middleton, and Paul Puopolo and his wife Karen of Dallas, TX. She was the cherished grandmother of Anthony, Jacklyn and Melissa Puopolo and Connor and Gillian Brown. She was the sister of the late Camille Santoro.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Thursday at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday from 4-6pm. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
