Geraldine M. "Geri" Rowe

Geraldine “Geri” Rowe, a long-time Wakefield resident, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, February 20th.

Geri was born in Melrose, MA on January 7th 1960, to the late Francis O’Brien and Jeanne O’Brien (Usher).

Geri was a well-known figure in the town of Wakefield. For over 15 years, she held the position of branch manager, at The Savings Bank in Greenwood. She held many volunteer positions in the town, as well, including time spend with the Citizen Scholarship Foundation. As branch manager, her warm smile and engaging conversation, captivated her customers (even when they were not there for banking!) Geri was always going above and beyond for those that had the privilege of banking, at the Greenwood branch.

Although she thoroughly enjoyed her years with the bank, her real love and zest for life, stemmed from her love for her three, amazing grandchildren; Riley (age 12), Chase (age 4), and Colton (age 1). As a Nana, Geri shined the brightest. There was nothing that she loved more, than spoiling her grandchildren to the core. To witness the bright faces of her grandchildren, when she walked into a room, was to know genuine and true love. Her light, her love, and her smile will live on, through them, for years to come.

Geri is preceded in death by both of her parents, her oldest brother James O’Brien, and her son Steven Rowe. She is survived by her two children, Jennifer Rowe of Londonderry, NH and Michael Rowe and his wife Amber, of Wakefield, MA. Geri is also survived by her brother Robert O’Brien of Fitchburg, MA, Daniel O’Brien and his wife, Kimberly of Stoneham, MA, William O’Brien of Wakefield, MA, and David O’Brien and his wife, Caroline, of Melrose, MA. Geri has many nieces and nephews that she is survived by, as well.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday February 27 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be held at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Friday February 28 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
