Gladys Mason

Gladys Rosalind Mason, 95, of Wakefield formerly of Melrose, died on Wednesday, September 28 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose.

Born in Everett on February 7, 1916 she was the daughter of the late Fay R. and Olive C. (Cox) Wheeler.

Mrs. Mason was a graduate of Melrose High School, class of 1934. She had been a Wakefield resident since 1945. An active member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Wakefield, Gladys was a past president (1986-1988) and member of the Wakefield Arts and Crafts Society. She had also been a member of the Wakefield Garden Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 63.

Mrs. Mason was a retired payroll supervisor for Houghton-Mifflin Company in Boston.

She was the wife of the late George E. Mason. Mrs. Mason is survived by her two sons Fredrick Mason and his wife Mary of Pittsfield and Robert Mason and his Sandra of Marina del Rey, CA, her sister Ruth Goddard of Wakefield and her grandson Parker Mason.

Funeral arrangements are Private.
