Gladys L. Wood, 100, of Peabody formerly of Wakefield died on Saturday, April 23 at the Brooksby Village in Peabody.
Born in Newton on March 24, 1911 she was the daughter of the late Howard A. and Hazel A. (Pike) Wood.
Ms. Wood had been a Wakefield resident from 1957 to 2005. She was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1929, Hyannis Teachers College, Class of 1933 and had received her Master's Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Class of 1934. Ms. Wood was a retired 6th Grade teacher from Winchester Public School System. She was a member of the Winchester and Massachusetts Teachers Association and the First Parish Congregational Church in Wakefield.
Ms. Wood was predeceased by her brother Donald Wood and her sister Mildred Martin. She is survived by her six nieces; Wendy Wood, Trilby Wood, Rachel Wood, Julia Lydick, Patricia Martin and Laurel Sheridan.
Funeral Services will be private.
