Grace Umbach

Grace E . Umbach of Stoneham, age 86 died October 15 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Medford on June 18, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Edward H. & Mathilda V. (Weslin) Smith.

Mrs. Umbach was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. She had been a Stoneham resident for more than 40 years and had worked for the Curtis Matheson Company and Ethan Allen Furniture.

Mrs. Umbach was the wife of the late Melvin H. Umbach . She was the sister of Edward H. White Jr. and his wife Wendy of Stoneham, Marjorie Melanson and her husband John of Wakefield and the late Marilyn Drew. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Private services were held for the family on October 17 and interment was at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham. Memorial contribution may be made to the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Development Office, 585 Lebanon St., Melrose, MA 02176. Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home.
