Gwenda Kenton

Gwenda Pierce Kenton (81 years old) born August 28, 1935 a resident of Winchester MA for the past 57 years recently passed away on Monday, February 6th, 2017.

She was born in Great Crosby, England and grew up in Denbigh/Llanrhaeadr North Wales. She traveled to the United States on an ocean liner and arrived in East Boston, MA in 1956 at the age of 21. Gwenda spoke the Welsh language and was always proud of her Welsh roots. Gwenda worked as a Flight attendant for Northeast Airlines once arriving in Boston.

She was daughter to the late George Pierce and Annie (Morris) Pierce Cartwright. Sister to Megan (Pierce) Evans and the late Gwyn Pierce. Megan lives with her husband on Vancouver Island, BC in Canada, while her younger late brother Gwyn Pierce resided outside of Manchester, England.

She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel M. Kenton Jr. a lifelong resident of Winchester, MA whom she married on December 20th, 1958. She was the loving mother of daughter Lydia Kenton Walsh and her husband Robert B. Walsh of Winchester, MA, Samuel M. Kenton III and wife Sherri of South Berwick, ME, and Gareth P. Kenton and wife Lori of Reading, MA.

Gwenda loved playing tennis, sewing and dancing to music from Tom Jones, but her true joy that would always bring a smile to her beautiful face were her children and grandchildren. She was known as Naini to her grandchildren: Mark C. Kenton (age 20), Hannah M. Kenton (age 8), Ella G. Kenton (age 7), and her step grandchildren: Andrew Casey (age 27), Ryan Casey (age 25) and Lauren Leidemann-Smith (age 16).

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Thursday, February 9th, from 5pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, February 10th at 11am with a reception to follow.
