Helen M. Bird, 82, a long time resident of Wakefield died Friday July 17 at her home.
Born in Revere on July 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William G. and Jennie F. (Watts) Holmes.
Mrs. Bird was a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1944 and was a retired Group Chief Operator for New England Telephone Company. She had been a resident of Wakefield since 1963 and was a member of St. Florence Parish.
Mrs. Bird was the wife of the late John E. Bird. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia L. Campbell and her husband Edward of Wakefield and Maureen G. McLaughlin and her husband William of Bellingham, and her brother William G. Holmes and his wife Grace of Holden. She is also survived by six grandchildren, William, Shannon, John, Courtney, Edward and Craig and 19 great grandchildren. Mrs. Bird was predeceased by her two brothers, Donald and Warren Holmes.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10am. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8pm. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
