Helen Marie Buckley

Helen Marie (Helmholtz) Buckley, age 88, longtime resident of Melrose MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 8, 2024, at the Aberjona Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Winchester MA.

Born in Boston on September 27, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (McArdle) Helmholtz.

Helen was raised in Somerville and moved to Medford in high school. She attended Chandler Business School and worked as an executive assistant at WBZ in Boston. She held many jobs throughout her career and in later years provided childcare for working moms. She loved music of the 70s and 80s, clothes shopping, flowers and butterflies. She met her significant other, Frank Shepherd, in Melrose where they shared a sweet dog, Daisy. Helen was quick with a smile and a laugh and had many wonderful friends and acquaintances.

She is survived by her loving children, Lisa Buckley and husband Mark Dopheide of Portland OR, William Buckley of Salem MA, Paige Buckley Allen of Seabrook NH and Greg Schilz and wife Kim Schilz of San Rafael CA, grandchildren Ashton Allen, Coltin Allen and Miya Schilz, sister Jean Kirby of North Reading MA, and many nieces and nephews. 

The family will hold a private Graveside Service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
