, 80 of Wakefield died Sunday evening May 12, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Melrose on April 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Owen J. and
Helen
G
. (Rice) Short.
Helen
was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Melrose class of 1951. She was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church.
Helen
was retired from the Massachusetts General Hospital where she worked in the credit and collection department.
Helen
was the wife of the late William J.
Prowse
. She was the mother of Kevin F.
Prowse
and his companion Rose Tecce, Patricia Moores and husband Doug all of Wakefield, Suzanne M. Fisher and husband Brian of CA, Kathy Donovan and husband John of Amesbury, and the late William J.
Prowse
Jr., and the sister of Mary F. Harkins of Woburn and the late Owen J. Short.
Helen
is also survived by her 9 grandchildren; Courtney, Paula, Brett, Drew, Jill, Doug, Michelle, Kelly, and Ashley, and 2 great grandchildren; Gabe and Ava. She was the companion of the late Eddie Hamlin.
The funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade cemetery, Wakefield.
