Helen P. Murphy, 93, of Osterville formerly of Wakefield died on Wednesday, February 16 at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Center.
Born in Wakefield on August 17, 1917 she was the daughter of the late John H. and Nellie V. (Buckley) Murphy.
Ms. Murphy was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1935 and Tufta�(TM)s University, Class of 1953. She had served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Ms. Murphy was a retired teacher from the Ridgewood Public School System. She had been a resident of Osterville for the past 33 years and was a member of the Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Osterville.
Ms. Murphy was the sister of the late John Murphy, Arthur Murphy and Margaret Murphy Howard. She is survived by her devoted lifelong friend Edith C. White of Osterville and her 8 nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews and 17 great great nieces and nephews.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St, Wakefield on Saturday at 10:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the mass at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield from 9-10am. Interment will be at St. Patricka�(TM)s Cemetery in Stoneham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Childrena�(TM)s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105
