Hugh B. Fraser, 83 a lifelong resident of Stoneham died Saturday, May 30 at the Bear Hill Nursing Center.
Born in Medford on October 11, 1931 he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (MacLean) Fraser.
Hugh was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1950. He had attended St. Patrick's from first grade to eleventh grade, before they discontinued their high school program in 1949. Hugh served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Social Worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and was a former member of the Barbershop Quartet. Hugh enjoyed spending time with his family members, especially during the holidays where he would handle all of the cooking.
Hugh was the beloved husband of Janet E. (Connelly) Fraser and the late Harriett (Keswick) Fraser. He was the loving father of Hugh B. Fraser, Jr. and his wife Laura of Winchester, Michael E. Fraser and his wife Elsie and Mark A. Fraser and his wife Martha all of Woburn, Edward J. Fraser of Stoneham, and Jay Fraser of Falmouth. He was the brother of Anne Ambrose of Ayer, John Fraser of Billerica, Alexander Fraser of Burlington and the late Joseph and Jean Fraser, and Elizabeth Foskitt. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
