Irene Cook

Irene K . (Schanz) Cook , 84, of Wakefield died on Thursday, January 21 at the Woodbriar of Wilmington.

Born in Weincheim, Germany on March 29, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Otto and Anna (Vetter) Schanz.

Mrs. Cook was raised in Germany and came to the United States in 1949. During WWII she had worked for the Department of the Army. Mrs. Cook had also worked for the former Woolworth Department stores in Wakefield, Reading and regionally. She was also a member of Club International.

Mrs. Cook was the wife of the late William K . Cook . She was the mother of Linda I. Cook of Sherman Oaks, CA and sister of Ruth Reiser of Bozeman, MT. She is also survived by her close friends Paul & Anne Fazzina of Stoneham and Nancy & Fred Malonson of Wakefield.

A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
