Irene Sullivan

Irene L . Sullivan , 98, a life long resident of Wakefield, died on Sunday, December 26 at the Wingate of Reading.

Born in Wakefield on June 1, 1912 she was the daughter of the late Vito and Josephine (Sava) Lazzaro.

Mrs. Sullivan was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1930. Before her retirement she had worked as a secretary to the Superintendent of Wakefield Public Schools.

Mrs. Sullivan was the wife of the late Attorney Eugene J. Sullivan . She was the mother of Eugene J. Sullivan , Jr. and his wife Mary, Martha Philbrick and her husband Bill all of Wakefield and Ann Payzant and her late husband Peter of Boxford. She was the sister of the late Dr. Paul Lazzaro, Dr. Salvatore Lazzaro, Mary Leonardi and Rose Pyburn. She was the grandmother of David Payzant and his wife Karen Hanssen, Nancy Walker and her husband Tim, Thomas Sullivan , Michael Philbrick and his wife Aileen and Kate Iantosca and her husband Mark. She was the great grandmother of Henry and Peter Walker, Aidan, Caitlin and Kieran Philbrick and Coradina Iantosca. She is also survived by her many friends and caring staff at Wingate at Reading.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield, on Thursday at 9 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A period of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
