Irma L. Costa, 81, a life long Wakefield resident, passed away at her home after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Wakefield on Aug. 31, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Leander and Sylvia (White) Muse.
Mrs. Costa was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. She was an underwriter for the American Mutual Insurance Co. of Wakefield and had been a member of St. Joseph Church. Mrs. Costa had also worked for both the Copley Shoe Co. and the Dine Shoes Co. of Wakefield. Irma enjoyed Dress making, crossword puzzles and reading.
Mrs. Costa was the wife of Joseph L. Costa. She was the mother of Stephen J. Costa of NH and the late Sharon R. Barron. She was the grandmother of Pamela R. Barron of Wilmington. She was the sister of Lorraine "Rainey" Lamb of Stoneham, Ruth Colson of Tewksbury and the late Roger "Sonny" Muse. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Wednesday at 9 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday 4 – 8 PM.
