Issa Chankhour

Issa A. Chankhour, 68, of Wakefield died on Friday, June 7 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Syria on January 8, 1945 he was the son of the late Aziz and Jamielh (Boghos) Chankhour.

Mr. Chankhour was raised in Syria and had been a Wakefield resident since 1988. He was a trained mechanical engineer in Syria.

Mr. Chankhour was the husband of Zakieh (Haidar) Chankhour. He was the father of Aziz Chankhour of Wakefield, Jamielh Kessilyas of IN, Zafer Chankour and Maher Chankhour both of Wakefield and the late Jihad Chankhour. He was the brother of Ellia Atallah, Jannet Wanis, Frank and George Shankhour, Nadia Assali, Nejat Houshan, Georget Laow, Tony Chankhour, Ghassan Shankhour and the late John Shankhour. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade in Wakefield.
