J. Warren Cotty, 95, of Wakefield died on Friday, February 4 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Chelsea on February 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Jesse T. and Helen (Symes) Cotty.
Mr. Cotty was a graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 1943. He served as a S/SGT in the 39th Bombardment Squadron in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. Mr. Cotty flew 32 missions in a B-29 as a tail gunner in the 6th Bomb Group. He and his crew were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mr. Cotty was a retired supervisor for Teledyne TAC in Woburn. He was a former coach with Wakefield Youth Hockey, Wakefield Little League and Wakefield Babe Ruth and was past president for the Greater Boston Youth Hockey League. He spent 31 winters in Longboat Keys, Florida. An azid golfer, Mr. Cotty had made two Holes-in-one's after the age of 75.
He is survived by his wife Patricia M. (MacKay) Cotty, his two sons; Stephen Cotty of Wakefield and Kevin Cotty of Longboat Keys, Florida, his two granddaughters; Sara Foss and her husband Andrew of Wakefield and Jill Wholey and her husband David of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, His grandson Adam Cotty of Littleton, New Hampshire and his nine great grandchildren. Mr. Cotty was predeceased by is brother Jesse T. Cotty Jr., and his sister Helen Baldut.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday at 11am followed by and interment at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
