James L. Campbell, 71, of No. Andover died Sunday, January 17 at his home.
Born in Chicago, IL on December 4, 1944 he was the son of the late Reginald H. and Helen (Czaja) Campbell.
James was raised in Chicago and was a graduate of St. Rita's High School in Chicago and later attended Chicago City College. He had been a No. Andover resident since 1976. He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime golf enthusiast and was a member of Far Corners in Boxford. James was a retired driver for Yellow Freight Teamsters Local 25 and had enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and brothers.
He is survived by and is the beloved father of Elizabeth A. Campbell and her husband Matthew G. Tice of Scarborough, ME, James L. Campbell Jr. and his wife Michelle of HI, and Jeffrey D. Campbell and his wife Claire of Wakefield and also their mother and his former wife Patricia L. (Veronis) Campbell of ME. He was the fiancé of Donna O'Brien of Medford. He was the brother of Reginald H. Campbell, Jr. of MI, Paul Campbell of Chicago, and Joseph Campbell of FL. He is also survived by his six grandchildren; Sarah, Harrison, Ian, Margaret, PhebE., and Sean.
The sum of Jim's life is that he was a good man who loved and was loved. He was devoted to his family and adored by his grandchildren, proudly attending nearly every special occasion, birthday celebration, and school performance. His generosity, humor, support, kindness beyond measure, and hugs unlike any other will be greatly missed by all.
His funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Monday at 11:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday prior to the mass from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
