James Coleman

James E. Coleman, 65, of Reading, formerly of Stoneham died on Wednesday, April 21 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

Born in Stoneham on September 23, 1943 he was the son of the late Edmund and Bernice L. (Connell) Coleman.

Mr. Coleman was raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of Stoneham High School and the University of Maine at Orono. He earned his Master's Degree from Salem State College in Education. Mr. Coleman was a longtime English teacher in the Stoneham Public School Systems and Vice Principal at the Central School in Stoneham. He retired in 2003.

He was a member of St. Patrick parish in Stoneham and the Stoneham Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed spending time in Maine.

Mr. Coleman was the husband of Gail (Cardwell) Coleman. He was the father of Christopher E. Coleman and his wife Jenny Flynn, Sara B. Craven and her husband Paul Jr., and Tasha Coleman all of Stoneham, Andrew J. Coleman and his wife Brenda of Wakefield, Amy M. Coleman of Salem and James W. Coleman of Reading. He was the grandfather of Darius, Katherine, Mathew, Aiden, Mairead, Dierdre, Jack, Maeve, Caroline, and Olivia.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
