James W. Collins Jr. "Jim' of Wakefield died Friday November 16, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Malden, September 29, 1939 he was the son of the late James W. and Mary (Murphy) Collins.
Jim was raise in Melrose, he was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School class of 1957 and received his Bachelor of Science from Boston College in 1961. He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968 attending OCS, U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI. Jim was a Senior Distribution Manager for several years with S.S. Pierce & Co. and later joined the M.B.T.A. as a Quality Control Manager. Jim loved to fish and was the former president and treasurer of the Malden Angler Fishing Club of Saugus, the Mystic River Rail Club, and supporter of Wakefield High School Football, Bentley College Football and Grant Printing Softball.
He was the beloved husband of Rosemary B. (McNeil) Collins. He was the loving father of Christopher Collins and wife Christine, Matthew Collins and wife Kristine all of Wakefield, Sean Collins and wife Denise of Madison, CT, and James Collins and wife Rachel of Ashburnham. He was the brother of John Collins of Melrose, Terri Ziniti of Stoneham, Patricia Marinelli of Fort Mills, SC, and Joan Collins of Malden. He was also the loving Papa of Caitlyn, Patrick, Brendan, Ryan, Jillian, Ty, Nolan, and Courtney Collins.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10:30 a.m. A period of visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
Interment will be private. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in the name of James W. Collins Jr., to the Wakefield Citizens Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 321, Wakefield, MA 01880
