James Coughlin

James J. Coughlin, 88, of Reading formerly of Wakefield died on Thursday, June 5 at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Lynnfield.

Born in Boston on December 2, 1925 he was the son of the late James and Julia (McCarthy) Coughlin.

Mr. Coughlin was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1943 and had attended Northeastern University. He had been a Reading resident for the past 9 years and had been a Wakefield resident for 40 years. Mr. Coughlin retired in 1989 from the First National Bank of Boston. He was a World War II Marine Veteran. The family would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff members at Sunrise of Lynnfield and All Care Hospice.

Mr. Coughlin was the husband of the late Lorraine F. (Linden) Coughlin. He is survived by his four children; James M. Coughlin and his wife Elizabeth of Nashua, NH, Joanne T. Ryan and her husband Edmond and Kevin J. Coughlin and his wife Susan all of Reading and Sheila M. Robertson and her husband Scott of Wakefield, his eight grandchildren; Christopher Ryan and his wife Paula, Daniel Ryan, Ryan, James, Sarah and Zachary Coughlin, Timothy and Stephen Robertson and his two great grandchildren; James and Kathryn. Mr. Coughlin was predeceased by his sister Helen Coughlin and his four brothers; Daniel, Jeremiah, Richard and John Coughlin.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Monday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from
3-7pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
