James B. "Buddy" Hartnett , age 90 of Medford died Tuesday February 24. Mr. Hartnett was born in Woburn on December 7, 1924 and was the son of the late James and Mary (Glennon) Hartnett . Mr. Hartnett was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1942. He later served with the United States Navy Seabees during W.W. II in the South Pacific. Mr. Hartnett was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, South Boston Postal Annex. He was a member of the American Legion Post #45 of Medford.
Mr. Hartnett was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Howard) Hartnett who was the love of his life. He was the loving father of Trisha Hartnett- Pratt and her husband Bob of Stoneham. He was the devoted grandfather of his two grandsons Brendan and Angelo. He was also the best uncle to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and special godfather of Ryan Giraud. He was predeceased by his sister Pauline Cronin.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home 322 Main St. Stoneham on Saturday Feb. 28 at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10:00. Interment with Military Honors will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Friday 4-8pm.
