James Jason

James J. "Skip" Jason, 85, of Wakefield died on Tuesday, March 29 at his home.

Born in Boston on September 26, 1924 he was the son of the late Simon and Clara (Perchelski) Jason.

Skip was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1943 and La Salle College. He was a World War II Army Veteran and had participated in the Normandy Invasion.

Skip was a longtime business man in Boston and the owner of Boston Ship Service. He was a 50 year member of St. Joseph Church in Wakefield and also a member of the Wakefield Knights of Columbus, Council 104.

One of his favorite past times was sitting with his wife Madeline on a sunny afternoon on their deck overlooking Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield.

Mr. Jason was the beloved husband of the late Madeline F. (Lehan) Jason. He was the devoted father of James S. Jason and his wife Janice of Chelsea, Ann Kenney and her husband John of Shelburne, VT, Allan Jason and his wife Apolonia of Montebello, NY and Mary Giurleo and her husband Joseph of Billerica. He was the loving grandfather of Scott, Christian, Madeline, Ted, Crystal, Jennifer, Joseph, Victoria and Alex and great grandfather of Fiona, Ethan and Gabrielle.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral service in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St, Wakefield at 9 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
