James R . Parker a longtime resident of Stoneham, formerly of the West End of Boston died at his home on Sunday October 17.
Born in Boston, December 31, 1938 he was the son of the late William and Eliza (Millar) Parker .
Jimmy was raised in the West End of Boston and was a graduate of Charlestown High School class of 1956. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired Officer for the Boston Police Department. Jimmy was known as quite the practical joker to those who knew him. He enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Hampton Beach.
Jimmy was the beloved husband of Maureen (Daly) Parker , with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. He was the loving father of Jamie Parker and wife Raymie of Stoneham, Karen Meyers and husband Steven of Burlington, Marshall Parker and fiancé Mia Corbett of Attleboro, and John Parker of Stoneham. Brother of Thomas B. Parker of Rockland and the late William and Frederick Parker , Tina Coggins, Margaret "Peggy" Alfieri, Mary Matranga and Barbara Perillo. Grandfather of Vanessa, Teagan, Parker and Lucas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved dog Shaggy.
His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Saturday at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment, Lindenwood Cemetery Stoneham.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boston Police Relief Associations.
