James F. Simmons, of Lynnfield died on Thursday August 18 at his residence.
Born in Boston on August 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Earl and Alice (Brice) Simmons
Mr. Simmons was a graduate of Medford High School. He had been a resident of Lynnfield for over 40 years. Mr. Simmons served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retired truck driver for the Piantedosi Baking Company in Malden. Mr. Simmons was a member of the Wakefield Elks and an avid golfer and an avid Boston sports fan.
He was the husband of the late Janet E. (Moynihan) Simmons. Mr. Simmons is survived by his sister Valerie McCarthy of Derry, NH and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Simmons was predeceased by his two sisters: Patricia Santangelo, and Roberta Dawson, and his brother Paul Simmons.
Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Thursday 4-7pm. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St., Wakefield, Friday at 10am followed by an interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield.
