James H. Towers, 97, a Wakefield resident for over 60 years, died on Thursday, July 8 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
Born in Calais, Maine on June 6, 1913, he was the son of the late Herman and Annie (Gibson) Towers.
Mr. Towers was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School, class of 1932. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Army Corp of Engineers in 1978.
Mr. Towers was the husband of the late Kathleen (Donegan) Towers. He was the father of Barbara Towers of Cape Elizabeth, ME, grandfather of Hannah Towers and brother of the late Tillie Towers. Grampy Jim also leaves a large circle of extended family and friends.
A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and Monday from 9-11 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. In honor of Jim, please perform an act of kindness.
