, 87, of Reading, formerly of Wakefield, died on Friday, September 11 at the Daniels House Nursing Home in Reading.
Born in Wakefield on August 28, 1922, he was the son of the late
James
V
. and Nellie (McTague)
Maguire
.
Mr.
Maguire
was a native of Wakefield and a graduate of Wakefield High School. He was also a graduate of Burdett College in Boston and had attended Brothy College. He was a World War II Army veteran and the recipient of the Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leave Cluster. Mr.
Maguire
was a retired Vice President for the Hartford Insurance Company. Jim was an avid golfer and Red Sox Fan.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Holy Name Society at the Church and was also a member of the Wakefield Council #104 Knights of Columbus.

is survived by his wife Margaret M. (Carter)

, three daughters, Claire M. Winters and her husband Gerald and Joan M. Boodry and her husband Tom both of Wakefield and Margaret M. Carlson and her husband Lenny of Reading. Mr.
Maguire
is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Robert Winters and his wife Tracy, Evan Winters, Johanna Schuman and her husband Marcus, Thomas, Ellen, Catherine and Patrick Boodry and Lauren and
James
Carlson. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren. Mr.
Maguire
was predeceased by his son

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 – 8. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, Team
