James Vatcher

James L. Vatcher, 80, of Reading died on Saturday, September 11 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Winchester on October 16, 1929 he was the son of the late Raymond D. and Leah A. (Pottle) Vatcher.

Mr. Vatcher was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1948 and also Wentworth Institute. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Vatcher was a retired machinist for the former Avco Co. and Textron. He had been a resident of Reading since 1955 and was a member of the Y's Men Club in Reading.

Mr. Vatcher was the husband of E. Lorraine (Surette) Vatcher. He was the father of Pamela McKenna and her husband Bill of Windham, NH, and Karen DiTrapano and her husband Steve of Sebastian, FL. He was the brother of Dorothy Cause of Beverly and grandfather of Brent, Wade, Jonathan, and Sarah.

A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 11am. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday 4-8pm. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
