Jane G. (Gavin) Cann, age 74, of Wakefield, formerly of Stoneham, died February 14 at the Winchester Hospital.
Born in Cambridge on June 22, 1947 she was the daughter of the late David and Mary (Hogan) Gavin.
Jane was raised and educated in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School. She then went on to graduate from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY with a bachelor's degree in economics. Jane was an avid reader and was a member of Bear Hill Golf Club in Stoneham. After a career pause to raise her children, she enjoyed a 20-year career as a special education tutor in the Reading school system. Jane loved her role as "Gramama" to her three grandchildren and enjoyed watching their sporting events. She was also a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick Church of Stoneham.
She was the beloved wife of Robert A. Cann. She was the loving mother of Matthew Cann and his wife Kelly of South Hamilton and Courtney Cann of Peabody. She was the loving grandmother of Gavin, Aidan, and Chase Cann. She was the sister of David Gavin Jr. and his wife Jennifer of San Antonio, TX, Carol Lavery and her husband Bob of Naples, FL, John Gavin and his wife Carol Sue of The Villages, FL and the late Patricia George. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Monday at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Masks are required in church.
