Janet E . Gallella , 71, a longtime Wakefield resident, died Thursday, September 26 at her home.

Born in Lynn of October 1, 1941 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emily (Domey) Baker.

Mrs. Gallella was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School and later went on to graduate from Lynn Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked as an oncology nurse at the Winchester Hospital where she spent 50 years of her career. Mrs. Gallella was a member of St. Joseph Church and ran the high school reunions at Lynn Classical High School.

Mrs. Gallella was the wife of Joseph R. Gallella . She was the mother of Jo-Ann Moriarty and her husband Wayne of Wakefield, Eileen Gallella , and Christine M. Gallella both of Wakefield, and Debi L. Tarnowski and her husband Brian of Brentwood, NH. She was the sister of Charles W. Baker III of Peabody. Grandmother of Michael, Alyssa, Jacquelyn, Christian, Dominic, Marc-Anthony, Matthew, Taylor, Joseph, and Lydia. She is also survived by three great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 4 to 8 pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
