Janice A. Shaw, 84, of Stoneham died on Wednesday, March 6 at the Life Care Center in Stoneham.
Born in Boston on September 14, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Alice (Butler) Marley.
Mrs. Shaw was raised in East Boston and had later lived in Medford. She had been a Wakefield resident since 1963. Janice worked as a library assistant for 40 years at the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library of Wakefield from where she retired. Janice spent many happy days surrounded by the books and patrons she loved. She learned to swim at the age of 40 and became a master swimmer and had been an active member of the Wakefield Y.M.C.A.. Janice and her late husband Ray were long time members of the Bear Hill Golf Club in Stoneham.
Mrs. Shaw was the wife of the late Raymond L. Shaw. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth A. Shaw of Pittstown, NJ, her four sisters; Florence McHugh of Maryland, Alice Rapallo of Medford, Roberta Jeffrey of New Hampshire and Noreen O'Neil of Tewksbury. Mrs. Shaw was predeceased by her two brothers; Frederick Marley and Robert Marley.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Monday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-5pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
