Janis MacKay

Janis Louise (Gaudette) MacKay, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 5, 2012.

Born in Somerville on June 17, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Shirley (Simpson) Gaudette and the late Paul Gaudette.

Janis was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1965.

She had the brightest smile and a kind word for everyone that she met. She loved life and her family and her friends, and she will be missed dearly by many.

Janis was the beloved wife of 43 years of John "Jack" MacKay, Jr., whom she met at age 14 while at Wakefield High School. She was the precious mother of Robyn MacKay Dion and her husband, Jason Dion of Middleton, and Jeffrey MacKay and his wife, Jessica MacKay of Beverly. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul Gaudette and his wife, Christina of Newburyport, and Peter Gaudette and his wife, Ellen of Wakefield and her loving aunts, Helen Smith and Nancy DeMeo of West Peabody. In addition to her family, her life was shared with her dear friends Donna O'Hare, Janet Lapery and Patricia Campbell.

A funeral service will be held in the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
