Jean M. Murphy, 83, of Stoneham died Friday, February 12 in Reading. She was born in Boston on December 10, 1932 and was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Cashin) Larange. She was a longtime Stoneham resident and graduated from Stoneham High School, Class of 1951. She had lived Melrose for 22 years where she raised her family before returning to Stoneham. She was retired from the Lord & Taylor Department Store in Burlington after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, the Stoneham Garden Club and Quannapowitt Yacht Club of Wakefield.
Mrs. Murphy was the loving wife of Laurence F. Murphy. She was the loving mother Scot Murphy and his wife Christina of Melrose, Jack Murphy and his wife Kimberly of NH, Kenneth Murphy and his wife Lynn of Melrose and Alan Murphy of N. Attleboro. She was the devoted grandmother of Christopher, Cal, Marie, Cam, Colin, Devin, John and Chelsee and great grandmother of Maeve and Cade. She is also survived her sisters Nancy McLean of Wilmington and Mary Savanak of CT and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Tuesday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 9am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 8pm.
