Joan M. Jordan, age 90, of Stoneham, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, July 12.
Born in Boston on January 5, 1933, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (LeBlanc) Maillett.
A woman filled with quiet strength and devotion to her family, Joan was the beloved wife of the late William F. Jordan. She was the loving mother of Mary Lou Roche and her husband Charles of Wakefield, Ellen Waszak and her husband Steven of Chelmsford, Carolyn Parece and her husband Mark, Patricia O'Donoghue and her husband Sean, all of Wilmington, William Jordan and his wife Lisa of Stoneham, and the late Martin Jordan. She is survived by her brother-in-law Robert Holbrook of Tewksbury. Joan was an adoring Nana, fondly remembered by her 13 grandchildren, Jessica, John, Kelsey, Shannon, Michelle, Cherie, Emily, Alison, Whitney, Jacqueline, Melissa, Meghan, and Amanda. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Holbrook and her brother Richard Maillett and his wife, her dearest friend, Eva. She was the sister-in-law to the late John Jordan, Theresa Finn, and Elizabeth MacDonald.
Joan was a woman of great faith and a long-standing member of St. Patrick's Parish in Stoneham. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing, grateful for her training that allowed her to care for her friends and family throughout the years. She was a proud member of her community, fostering countless friendships throughout her life, hosting gatherings of loved ones at her home and cottage in Wareham, playing cards weekly with the ladies, and providing an open door and a warm heart for all those who knew her.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main Street Stoneham, on Tuesday, July 18, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, on Wednesday, July 19, at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Lindenwood Cemetery.
