Joeby Burke

Joeby R . Burke , 84, of Wakefield passed away at his home on Monday, April 8th.

Born in Melrose on November 23, 1928, he was the son of the late Julius L. and Annie L. (Porter) Burke .

A graduate of Melrose High School for the class of 1946, Mr. Burke had been a Wakefield resident since 1961. He had served in both the U.S. Army and also the U.S. Navy. He had been a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church. Mr. Burke was an elevator mechanic and a member of the Local #14 for 20 years and he had also worked as a custodian for the Wakefield public schools for 20 years.

Mr. Burke was the husband of Charlotte (Lloyd) Burke . He was the father of Janice Burke and her companion John Malonson of Melrose, Theresa Shedd, James "Randy" Burke and Robert Burke , all of Wakefield and Patti Plante and her husband Michael of Wilmington. He was the brother of the late Russell and Roy Burke and Doris Ballerini. He was the grandfather of Danny and Jonathan Shedd and Jessica Plante. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.

Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
