John Shankhour

John A . Shankhour , 49, of Saugus formerly of Wakefield died peacefully on September 9 at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born in Damasus, Syria on January 1, 1963, he was the son of Jameleh (Boghos) Shankhour of California and the late Aziz Shankhour .

John was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1981 and had attended Salem State College. He had been a Saugus resident for the past 18 years. John was a Corrections Officer at the Billerica House of Corrections and was a member of St. Margaret's Church in Saugus.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Shankhour is survived by his wife Lisa A . (Murphy) Shankhour , his two sons; John "JJ" Shankhour and Patrick Shankhour both of Saugus and his ten brothers and sisters; Issa Shankhour , Haneneh Wanis, Faez Shankhour and Tony Shankhour all of Wakefield, Nadia Assali of Nevada, Elaine Attalah, Gorge Shankhour , Najat Houshan, Georgette Laow and Gassan Shankhour all of California.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St, Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shankhour Children's Fund, c/o Eastern Bank, 466 Lincoln Ave, Saugus, MA 01906
