John J. "Jack" Burke , 82, of Stoneham, passed away Saturday, December 24th at his home.
He was born in Somerville on April 7, 1943, and was the son of the late Francis and Nora (Connole) Burke .
Jack grew up in Somerville and he later served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was at the 38th parallel at the conclusion of the war. He was a longtime Foreman for Cott Bottling Co. After retirement, he worked for the Stoneham Department of Public Works. Jack loved spending time with his family and was the ultimate family man.
Jack was the beloved husband of the late Marie F. (McCarthy) Burke . He was the loving father of Michael J. Burke of Stoneham, John J. Burke of Woburn, Stephen P. Burke and his wife Lisa of Chicago, IL, and Maureen Burke and her husband Sean Cashell of Winchester. He was the brother of Peggy Wackrow of Woburn and the late Frank Burke . Jack is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Kerry A. McInnis, Brian, Connor, and Caitlin Burke , Sean and Michael Cashell, and 2 great grandchildren, Timothy and Oliver, and his brother in law Charles McCarthy of Somerville.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 9 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment with military honors at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
