John Donegan

John Francis "Jack" Donegan , 74, of Lynnfield, died peacefully at his home on Friday, October 21st. Born in Boston on December 3, 1936, the son of the late John H. and Honora "Tootie" Dorothea (LeMoure) Donegan . Jack Donegan , originally from East Boston, was a life long resident of Lynnfield. He was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Boston University and earned a Masters degree from Vermont College. At the time of his death, Jack was the President of NAGE Local #291, National Vice President of NAGE-SEIU 5000, and Vice President of Massachusetts AFL-CIO. Jack also served as a Massachusetts Civil Service Commissioner and was President of the Sea Food Workers Union in Boston. A life committed to community service, Mr. Donegan was active in the Town of Lynnfield, serving as a member and past Chairman of the Lynnfield Board of Selectmen for 18 years. He also served as Chairman of the Lynnfield Democratic Town Committee, President of Lynnfield Junior Sports, and member of the Lynnfield Recreation Commission and Lynnfield Housing Authority.

Jack is lovingly survived by his wife Annette M. (Haling) Donegan . He was the father of John "Jay" Donegan and his wife, Lisa, of Great Falls, VA, Denise J. Donegan of Lynnfield, Colleen H. Gioioso and husband, John , of Lynnfield, James "Jimmy" Donegan of San Diego, CA and Stephen P. Donegan of Richmond, VA. He was the brother of John "Sonny" Sullivan of Brockton, and Eileen, Stephen, and the late David Donegan , all from Lynnfield. He is survived by his grandchildren, John , Cate, Claire, Sarah & Hannah Donegan and Genna Gioioso.

Jack's funeral will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield, on Wednesday at 9am, followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady the Assumption Church, Lynnfield, at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Tuesday 4-8pm. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield.
