John Gilbertson, Sr.

John Robert Gilbertson, Sr., a long term active resident of Lynnfield, MA, died peacefully at the age of 89 on May 2, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine and their children: John Jr. and his wife Kaoru of Boston, MA; Matthew and his wife Deborah of Lynnfield, MA; Carla and her husband Greg of McLean, VA; and Christina of West Newbury, MA. He has seven grandchildren.

He graduated early from Roslindale High School to enlist during World War II and became a U.S. Naval Aviator. After the war he graduated from Duke University and Boston University School of Law. He was an active member of the Boston area legal community for over 50 years, as a member of a law firm with his father-in-law, Alfred A. Sartorelli, in Stoneham, MA, and as a solo practitioner.

His funeral will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Saturday at 1pm. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7pm. Interment will be Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
