John A. Glionna, 76, of Melrose died on Tuesday, September 26 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born on Malden on August 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Amirault) Glionna.
Mr. Glionna was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1960. He had been a Melrose resident for the past 44 years. Mr. Glionna had served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a professional driver for Boston Coach Company.
Mr. Glionna is survived by his wife Diane (Tuttavilla) Glionna, his son Gregory Penta of Melrose, his daughter Rachael Glionna of Melrose, his two brothers; Joseph Glionna and his wife Joyce and Raymond Glionna and his wife Teresa all of Malden and his sister-in-law Mary Glionna of Bedford. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and special friends. Mr. Glionna was predeceased by his brother George Glionna.
His Funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Monday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 46 Myrtle St., Melrose at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-4pm. Entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New England Center and Home for Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
