John J. Guidara, 96 a longtime resident of Wakefield died Friday February 26, at Hearthstone Nursing and Rehab in Woburn.
Born in Manhattan, NY on April 4, 1913 he was the son of the late Paul and Adeline (Virgilio) Guidara.
John was a graduate of East Boston High School class of 1931 and a Navy Veteran of W.W. II. He was a retired plasterer. John was the oldest active member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks.
He is survived by his children, Elizabeth A. Hart and her husband David, John P. Guidara and his wife Donna, grandchildren, Jeffrey Hart and his wife Charlene, Christopher Hart, Amy Hart and her fiancé Matthew Riley, Keith Guidara and his wife Nicole, Alyssa Guidara Moog and her husband Jonathan, great grandchildren, Ryan Hart, Austin Hart and Justin Guidara. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. John was preceded in death by his 3 brothers; William, Leo and Orlando Guidara, 4 and sisters; Sadie Cirello, Ann Bell, Mary Ciano, and Matilda Carroll.
The funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday 4-8pm. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
