John Cronin, Jr.

John J . Cronin , Jr . of Reading and formerly of Medford died October 16. He was 79 years of age. Born in Medford on August 5, 1930 he was the son of the late John J . & Mary (Harrington) Cronin . Mr. Cronin was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1948. He later was the owner and operator of City Service Gas Station of Belmont. In 1960 he joined the Medford Police Department from where he later retired. He enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening and attending the sporting events of his 6 grandchildren.

Mr. Cronin was the husband of the late Marilyn H. (McCarthy). He is survived by his 3 sons Jack E. Cronin and wife Eileen of Plainville, Michael A. Cronin and wife Catherine and Daniel Cronin & wife Patty all of Wakefield. He was the brother of Walter Cronin and Mary McShea of Wareham and Helen McCarran of Watertown. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Kimberly, Stacey, Kayla, Cameron, Kirsten and Shannon.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church 47 Butler Ave. Wakefield at 10:00. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday 4-8 PM.
